Adoption Policies & Procedures

Thank you for your interest in one of our rescue dogs!

Important Note: We only adopt to homes in the Metro Atlanta area and give preference to homes with a confirmable pet history.

Minimum Adoption Requirements: All of your current pets must be up to date on vaccinations (rabies/dhlppc/bordetella), be spayed or neutered, and be on monthly heartworm prevention. If you do not have any current pets, you may be asked to provide us with a previous pet history. If you are a first time pet owner, you may be asked to submit to a home visit and personal reference check. Even with a confirmable pet history, you may be asked to submit to a home visit if you have a fenced in yard, children and/or large breed dogs in the home.

First Step: To be considered for adoption, you must first submit an adoption application.

Adoption Procedures: Once your application has been submitted, and the required veterinary or reference checks are completed, a volunteer will contact you for a personal interview and to answer all of your questions. Your application will then be forwarded to the Director for pre-approval. If pre-approved, you will then receive a phone call from the foster parent who will schedule an appointment with you to meet the dog you are interested in. We recommend you have all family members and animals present for the meeting.

Disclaimer: Submitting an adoption application does not guarantee that you will be approved to adopt, nor that you will be approved to adopt the particular dog you are interested in. We reserve the right to refuse adoption to any applicant who falsifies information on the adoption application, who does not meet our minimum adoption requirements, and/or who does not make the right match for an individual dog based on their needs.

If you have any further questions about the adoption process, please Contact Us.

Adoption Fees & Medical Records

The adoption fee is $250 for puppies and adolescent dogs up to 2 years of age. $225 for young adults and dogs up to 7 years of age. $100 for senior dogs 7 years of age or over. Our adoption fee does not outweigh the cost of care for our rescue animals! Many times our animals are given optional blood work, dental cleanings, and are treated for respiratory infections, ear infections, eye ulcers, skin diseases, and other medical necessities which go above and beyond the standard care covered in our adoption fee.

The adoption fee covers:

  • complete veterinary care, which includes: a physical exam, vaccines (rabies, dhpp, bordetella), a heartworm test, dewormer, flea/heartworm prevention, spay/neuter surgery, dental cleanings, and any other necessary medical care.
  • food, clothing, bedding, toys, treats, and housing while in our care
  • bathing and grooming as needed while in our care
Fees can be paid in cash or check, are non-negotiable, and non-refundable after 14 days. Fees are subject to change at any time.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE APPLICATION

Important: We DO NOT offer same day adoption. Our adoption review process takes up to 7 DAYS to complete.
