I first found out about being a foster mom when I was in a small town in Fla., where we have a beach cottage. The beach allows dogs on leash, and the little town also caters to dogs. Pets are allowed in many of the shops. Actually many of the owners of the shops are foster moms or dads and bring there fosters to their shop for people to meet. I have seen many dogs find a forever home . I have a great love for animals and thought I would love to be a foster mom.

As I live in Georgia I could not be a foster mom in Fla. I went to a event at the park near us and saw a little Chihuahua dog that look like my Chihuahua Cisco. His name was Tommy. Well I had to go over and meet him. He was adorable and I could have taken him home that very day. He was with his foster mom. She told me about the chihuahuarescuega. I was so excited to find out about this rescue. The next day I called for info about being a foster mom. What I learned was this was a very special group. This rescue had RULES. The RULES protected the little dogs. You had to be approved by the rescue team , then they would try and match the right Chihuahua to the right family, therefore the little Chi would have a forever home. I was very impressed about the way they found homes for these little dogs.

I have fostered three beautiful little Chi's. I must say I have fallen in love with all three of them. People always say to me how can you let them go? Well it is not easy because you do become attached to each and every one of them. But we take them in and give them love, and skills, and hopefully they will be ready to go to a wonderful family and continue to give and receive the love they deserve. It is a very rewarding job when you hear back from the new parents of these little guys. They are living a very happy life with their new family. This is the purpose of our job to save and protect these beautiful animals and provide them with a happy, safe, loving home.
