The Advantages of Pet Adoption
When you adopt a homeless pet, versus purchasing one from a breeder or pet store, you help prevent pet overpopulation by giving a shelter pet a second chance at life! We feel strongly that every pet owner should seek pet adoption as their first option before purchasing a pet from a breeder or pet store. Here are a few advantages of pet adoption you should consider:
- Our adoption fee of $200+ is less than any breeder or pet store fee when purchasing a pet.
- Our adoption fee covers ALL veterinary care, age appropriate, for the animal you are adopting. When you purchase from a breeder or pet store the fee DOES NOT cover any veterinary care and this is an additional cost to you.
- As a foster home based program we get to know our pets very well which helps us match you with the pet that is right for your lifestyle. This takes the guess work out of choosing the right pet!
- We also provide basic training and socialization to our pets which helps transition the pet into your home easier.
- We make a lifetime commitment to our pets, and at any time in the future if you are unable or unwilling to provide for your pet, we will take the pet back.
Why Spay/Neuter Surgery for your Pet?
Spay/Neuter in pets is the surgical alteration of the reproductive organs with the goal of preventing unwanted heat cycles and litters, and is the primary reason people spay/neuter. However, spay/neuter surgery is also strongly recommended by veterinarians to help reduce the risk of life threatening reproductive infections in females and also reproductive cancers later in life for both males and females.
Aside from helping prevent pet overpopulation and the obvious medical benefits for your pet, there are other reasons to spay/neuter. For instance, in males the surgery can help deter unwanted behavioral problems such as aggression towards other people and dogs, biting incidents, territorial marking, and the tendency to escape and roam. In females, the surgery prevents the heat cycle and the chance that you will have unwanted male dogs entering your property to mate.
Overall, the surgery can improve your pet's temperament and help them to live a longer, healthier life!
There are many non-profit organizations dedicated to preventing pet overpopulation in Atlanta and they offer spay/neuter surgery at a significant discount to all pet owners. For instance, the average price at a low cost spay/neuter clinic to neuter a male dog is only $50. Be a responsible pet owner, help fight pet overpopulation and have your pets spayed or neutered today!
